Kouklia Police Station is investigating a case of causing grievous bodily harm, with a 47-year-old man as the victim.

According to the Police, the incident occurred on Sunday, 19 October, and was reported to Kouklia Police Station by the 47-year-old who stated that shortly before noon on the same day at the market in Timi, following an argument with an unknown person, the individual attacked him and punched him in the face.

The 47-year-old was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department of Paphos General Hospital, where he was examined and found to have a severe fracture of the nose and an injury to the area of his right eye.

He was kept for hospitalisation at Paphos Hospital and was then transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where he underwent surgery and was kept for further hospitalisation.

According to the information under investigation, the 47-year-old had attempted to defend a woman who refused to pay individuals for the replacement of the windscreen wipers on her vehicle.

These individuals had replaced allegedly worn-out wipers on the woman’s vehicle in Timi without her permission.

The woman refused to pay, asking them to put her own back on, but the opportunists argued that the ones they installed were single-use, and if they removed them, they would break, insisting on being paid.

The 47-year-old intervened, and a scuffle ensued, resulting in his injury. The perpetrators disappeared and are being sought by the police.

It is noted that the phenomenon of opportunists changing car windscreen wipers without asking the drivers’ permission and subsequently demanding money for the new ones they installed appears to be frequent in various areas of Paphos.
