New evidence has emerged in the investigation of Stavros Demosthenous’s murder, as authorities have discovered a motorcycle in a coastal area of Limassol believed to be directly linked to the killers‘ escape.

According to current information, investigators found a high-displacement, dark-coloured scooter-type motorcycle thought to have been used by the perpetrators in their getaway immediately after burning the van used during the commission of the crime.

Earlier today, the autopsy on the victim’s body was conducted at Nicosia General Hospital by medical examiner Nicolas Charalambous, with the procedure concluding shortly before 1:00 p.m.

Sources confirm that at least two bullets struck the victim in the head, with the medical examiner determining that death resulted from severe craniocerebral injury caused by gunshot wounds.

The major challenge for police remains identifying not only the hitmen but also those who ordered the killing – establishing who planned and executed the murder of Stavros Demosthenous with such precision.

Investigations continue on multiple fronts. Authorities have already taken several statements and are gathering intelligence, examining evidence collected from the scene, and analysing video footage. Police are working to piece together the puzzle amid significant public pressure for answers.

The fatal ambush took place around 9:30 Friday morning, approximately 500 metres from Demosthenous’s home in the Sfalangiotissa area.

The businessman was in the passenger seat of a luxury rental vehicle driven by his 18-year-old son when a white van cut them off, forcing the teenager to slow down. The van doors opened and one of the perpetrators began shooting precisely at Demosthenous, fatally wounding him.

After completing the hit, the assassins fled the scene. Minutes later, a vehicle matching the description was found burning in Germasogeia. Examinations confirmed it was the same vehicle used in the execution. Police investigations revealed the van had been reported stolen on September 4 in Nicosia district.

Following the attack, despite being in shock, the victim’s son attempted to drive his father to hospital. While travelling on the highway near Tsireion, their vehicle was involved in a collision and immobilised.

According to reliable information obtained by Phileleftheros, the 18-year-old flagged down a passing motorist who transported them to Limassol General Hospital, but Demosthenous was already dead upon arrival.

The same sources report that he had sustained at least two gunshot wounds to the head.
