Interior Minister Constandinos Ioannou announced the implementation of the SafeCY application, at a highly opportune time, as public safety concerns have been raised by the Israel-Iran conflict.
As the minister communicated, SafeCY provides detailed information on the nearest Civil Defence shelter to people’s home or place of work, including instructions on how to get there as well as its capacity.

“SafeCY”, finds the shelter in real time and anyone can download the app from Google Play or the App Store.
The App is available for Android (through PlayStore) and IOS (AppStore) in both Greek and English.
People can find areas that have been declared as shelters at any given time. They can also do that through addresses, area codes and so on, with the App including directions and useful information.
The Interior Ministry says that SafeCY utilises the possibilities provided by technology in order to strengthen the population’s early warning mechanism. ‘The development of the App reflects state goals to further enhance citizen protection, particularly during times of crisis’.
