Police arrested two men, aged 45 and 46, in connection with a property fraud investigation involving the sale of land for €600,000 in cryptocurrency using forged documents.
The investigation began on February 11 when a 78-year-old Limassol resident reported to police that he discovered his land plot had been sold to a company without his knowledge after checking records at the Limassol Land Registry.
Investigators found that forged documents were used for the property transfer, including a falsified identification card of the complainant, police said.
The suspects were arrested on judicial warrants after evidence was secured against them. They face charges including fraudulent property transactions, obtaining money under false pretences, impersonation, forgery, circulation of forged documents, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit a felony.
The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the case.
