The iconic pink flamingos have begun gracing Larnaca’s salt lake, offering visitors spectacular views.
Despite low water levels, recent rains have attracted the first flamingos as of yesterday, marking the start of the winter season.

Philenews obtained photographs from Louis Perentos, who has been documenting the arrival of Larnaca’s most striking winter visitors for years, providing valuable insights into their behaviour.

The flamingos visiting Cyprus are the largest of the six species found worldwide. They are a nomadic species that travels vast distances in search of suitable habitats, particularly shallow brackish lakes or salt pans.

As in previous years, these magnificent birds will remain in Cyprus until next spring before continuing their extensive migration journey.
