An incident of violence against a doctor and two nurses occurred in the early hours of Saturday at the Accident and Emergency Department of Nicosia General Hospital.
The State Health Services Organisation (SHSO) has issued a statement condemning the violent acts perpetrated by a civilian against healthcare professionals.
The organisation emphasised that violence of any form is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated.
“Healthcare professionals working in Emergency Departments or other clinics and departments are there to save lives, not to be subjected to attacks,” the statement read.
SHSO expressed solidarity with the staff members who were attacked and assured them that all necessary actions would be taken to bring the perpetrator to justice.
The organisation reminded the public that hospitals are guarded by Security Guards and Special Police Officers. SHSO called on these security personnel to intervene promptly and show zero tolerance for such incidents.
