A firecracker exploded outside a garage in Limassol early this morning, causing no damage as the homeowner managed to extinguish the fire sparked by the blast before it could spread.
The police are now searching for one individual in connection with the incident.
The explosion occurred just minutes after 2 a.m., outside the garage of a 48-year-old resident in the Agia Fyla area.
Police officers arrived at the scene and, upon investigation, determined that the explosion was caused by the detonation of a firecracker enhanced with flammable material. Despite the fire that ensued, no damage was incurred as the homeowner acted swiftly to put out the flames before they could spread.
Reviewing the closed-circuit camera footage from the property, police identified an individual riding a large-capacity motorcycle as the person who threw the firecracker.
In his statement, the complainant expressed suspicions about a 57-year-old man with whom he has had financial disagreements.
An arrest warrant has been issued for this individual, who is now being sought by the police. The police investigation is ongoing.
