A development occurred in the trial of a quadruple fatal accident that took place on New Year’s Day 2024 in Limassol.

The defendant, 44, has admitted to four charges related to the incident.

During a court hearing on September 20, the man’s lawyer announced that his client would be changing his plea from not guilty to guilty for four counts of causing death by reckless driving.

While the 44-year-old admitted to these charges, his lawyer indicated that a decision on two additional charges – driving at excessive speed and running a red light – would depend on the evidence presented in court.

The two sides have agreed on a set of admitted facts and submitted relevant photographs and documents as evidence.

The trial is expected to continue with further proceedings.

The collision occurred at the traffic-light-controlled intersection of Yiannou Kranidioti and Ayias Anastasias streets in Limassol, half an hour into 2024. Two siblings and their grandparents died after colliding with an incoming pick-up truck while trying to turn right at the intersection.
