Police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old Ukrainian permanent resident of Paphos who was found drowned in the sea off Pegeia on Thursday.
According to witnesses who reported the incident to authorities, the man was seen falling into the water from a rocky reef.
A search and rescue operation was launched, involving a joint effort by the Paphos CID, Port and Marine Police, lifeguards, and a helicopter with a nurse.
The man’s body was eventually recovered and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities are gathering information from the man’s acquaintances and will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
