Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot journalists came together to plant olive trees in Nicosia on Saturday.

This symbolic act took place in the Trachonas area, within occupied Nicosia.

The “mayor” of occupied Nicosia, Mehmet Harmanci also participated in the event.

This initiative mirrors a similar tree-planting effort undertaken in March 2017 at the Journalists’ Village in Pervolia.

The board of the Cyprus Journalists’ Union said it “believes that such actions maintain the good climate of cooperation between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots and renew expectations for the creation of conditions that will lead to the solution of the Cyprus problem and the reunification of our country.”
