The longest coastal pedestrian road in Cyprus will be located in Peyia and is expected to be a reality before the end of 2024, according to Mayor Marinos Lambrou.
Procedures for its creation are progressing with the announcement last week of the tender for the urban planning project which is to cost €2.5 million.
The first phase of the project will be two kilometres long and be part of the wider coastal pedestrian street that starts from the marina area in Potima and ends at the port of Agios Georgios in Peyia. It will cover a total distance of 14 km along the coast.
“In the first phase, the construction of an amphitheater, an outdoor gym, a basketball court, a kiosk and a playground are planned,” Lambrou also told Philenews.
“This is a very important project that will upgrade the Municipality of Peyia. The completion of the project is estimated at 18 months,” he added.
The Mayor also said the Municipality has proceeded this year with a large-scale project on asphalt pavements in the area, costing about one million euros.
