Generation for Change CY is organising an intercultural basketball tournament to celebrate World Refugee Day.
The tournament will occur on Saturday, June 15 at Kaimakli Linear Park, starting at 5:30 p.m.
“This year, we stand in Solidarity with Refugees #WithRefugees. Our goal is to bring together people from diverse backgrounds – refugees, locals, and migrants – to celebrate this significant day, play basketball, interact, and foster social cohesion,” the organisation said.
“In a world where the narrative around refugees has become increasingly hostile, we are sending a strong message: peaceful and inclusive coexistence is not only possible but pragmatic. We can all thrive together,” it added.
Participation is free of charge. Teams are gender-neutral, and players must be 15 and above. Each team should consist of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 players. Register your team by June 9, 2024.
If you don’t have a team you can contact the organisers to place you in one.
