A new initiative by the UN Secretary-General on the Cyprus problem is expected in July, according to Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman.

In a social media post today, Erhurman said he exchanged views on the matter during a meeting with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

Erhurman noted that the initiative is expected to follow the parliamentary elections and the conclusion of the Cyprus Presidency.

He described the meeting with DiCarlo as “productive and useful,” adding that the two officials also discussed Confidence Building Measures (CBMs).
