UK updates Cyprus travel advice after Israeli flights redirected over security concerns

Britain’s Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for Cyprus following Israel’s decision to redirect its commercial flights from Paphos to Larnaca airport over security concerns.

The advisory, issued on January 29 and valid through February 1, notes that while Cyprus has no recent history of terrorist attacks, the threat cannot be ruled out.

“Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreign nationals,” the Foreign Office said in its advisory. “Israel is directing all its flights to Cyprus exclusively to Larnaca airport for security reasons.”

British officials confirmed that flights between the United Kingdom and Cyprus remain unaffected by these changes.

The Foreign Office did not specify the nature of the security concerns that prompted Israel’s decision.
