Police are investigating a suspected arson attack on a vehicle belonging to a former police officer in Limassol, who has previously been targeted by criminal elements.
Investigators from Limassol CID are searching for CCTV footage that could help identify those responsible for setting fire to the vehicle outside the former officer’s car rental business on Amathountos Avenue in Agios Tychonas.
The fire broke out at around 11.30 pm on Saturday while the vehicle was parked outside the business premises.
Firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze, while police officers examined the scene. The vehicle suffered extensive damage.
Police cordoned off the area, and preliminary investigations established that the fire had been started deliberately.
The former officer, who owns both the business and the vehicle, has been targeted by criminal elements in the past. However, he told police that he did not suspect anyone and had no disputes with anybody.
Investigators collected several items of evidence from the scene for forensic examination.
