The police have arrested two men, aged 29 and 24, in connection with a case involving conspiracy to commit a felony, kidnapping, and robbery, authorities said on Sunday.
The alleged offences took place on February 28 in Limassol. The suspects appeared before the Limassol District Court, which ordered their remand for three days as investigations continue.
According to police reports, a 17-year-old Syrian national claimed he was abducted while standing outside a kiosk in Kolossi at approximately 11:45 a.m. on February 28. He reported that a sedan with a man and a woman inside stopped near him, followed by a van. The van’s driver allegedly forced him into the vehicle.
The teenager was then taken to the Kolossi Castle area, where he saw the two individuals from the first car present. He was assaulted, robbed of his mobile phone, and left at the scene. Before fleeing, the perpetrators allegedly threatened to kill him and burn down his house if he reported the incident to the police.
The victim walked home and later filed a complaint with the police, accompanied by his mother. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
