Police are investigating a suspected arson attack after a fire damaged two vehicles in Larnaca’s Vergina area early Friday morning, marking the third such incident in the district within 24 hours.
The blaze, which authorities believe was deliberately set, was discovered at approximately 2 a.m. in an open parking area. The primary target appears to have been a vehicle belonging to a 28-year-old man, with the fire subsequently spreading to a second vehicle owned by the father’s company.
Fire Service personnel responded promptly to extinguish the flames, which caused extensive damage to the front section of the 28-year-old’s vehicle. The rear portion of the second vehicle also sustained significant damage.

Forensic examinations conducted at the scene have confirmed arson as the cause, prompting members of Larnaca’s Criminal Investigation Department to begin collecting evidence, including reviewing closed-circuit surveillance footage from surrounding areas.
Investigators are expected to take a statement from the 28-year-old victim, identified as a plumbing professional, later today. Authorities note that the motives behind this criminal act remain undetermined at this stage of the investigation.
This incident follows two separate arson attacks reported early Thursday in the Larnaca district – one targeting a 26-year-old’s vehicle in Dromolaxia and another at a café in the Electricity Authority of Cyprus housing estate in Dhekelia.
Police have not yet indicated whether they believe the three incidents are connected, though the timing and similar nature of the attacks have raised concerns about potential patterns of targeted criminal activity in the area.
The investigation continues as authorities work to identify potential suspects and establish possible connections between the recent incidents.
