The security measures taken by the police around the building of the Jewish synagogue in Larnaca, which has a large community of Israelis, are unprecedented.
In addition to guarding the area, two roads leading to the synagogue have been closed and high protective barriers have been installed to prevent access. Thorough checks are being made on anyone wishing to pass on foot through the site, which is guarded around the clock.
Extraordinary security measures are taken throughout the area, in which there are unobtrusive patrols. It is noted that yesterday the Chief Rabbi of Cyprus, Arie Zeev Raskin, who lives in Larnaca, expressed his shock at the situation in Israel through a post and stressed that “we must not let terrorism raise its head in Cyprus”.
Expressing his dismay at celebrations, which he said took place in Finikoudes area, he said that “some people in Cyprus have not yet realized that the enemy that Israel is now facing is the equivalent of the terrorist killers of ISIS, whose sole purpose is to spread death and terror”.

He added that “during the Jewish holidays, many Jews from Israel visited Cyprus. Due to the current situation, many of them cannot find shelter and the Jewish Community of Cyprus is making great efforts to find a place to live for those who are stranded here” and asked for support in order to help them.
“We are counting on your support to help us take care of these people who are facing a situation so sudden, unpleasant, and unexpected. I would like you to know that your support will help people from the areas of Israel affected by these tragic events.”
