Police have arrested a 16-year-old as part of an investigation into the suspected arson of the historic Corner Pub building in Nicosia, which authorities say was deliberately set on 5 August 2026.
The fire broke out at around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the abandoned building in Nicosia district. Police officers and the Fire Service responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze.
Investigators who examined the site later concluded that the fire had been started deliberately.
As part of the investigation, police secured evidence against the 16-year-old, who was arrested on Thursday under a court warrant and remains in custody while inquiries continue.
The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is continuing its investigation.
