The Pancyprian Association of Hotel Managers (PASYDIXE) condemned the sexual abuse of two underage female visitors from the UK, for which a man was convicted by the Paphos Criminal Court, saying he was neither a member of the association nor a hotel manager.
The association said the man is employed at a tourist establishment.
In a statement, PASYDIXE described the offences as “abhorrent and utterly condemnable acts that allow no justification or tolerance”. It said they were an affront to human dignity and tarnished the values of Cypriot hospitality and of society.
The association expressed its full support for the victims, saying that protecting the physical and mental wellbeing of every visitor, particularly minors, is a non-negotiable obligation.
It said it would step up its efforts to prevent similar cases by promoting awareness, professional responsibility and the protection of visitors. Hotel managers work every day to provide safe conditions and quality stays worthy of Cypriot hospitality, the association added, and the safety of every guest and respect for human dignity are non-negotiable principles.
