A hotel manager was found guilty by the Criminal Court in Paphos on Tuesday of sexually abusing two 16-year-old girls from the UK who were staying at the hotel on holiday in July 2023.

His lawyers will address the court in mitigation on 18 November, after which he will be sentenced, Phileleftheros understands.

The man, who was 50 at the time, had been accused by the girls’ families of sexually molesting them. The two girls had come to Cyprus on holiday with the parents of one of them and were staying at a hotel in the wider Paphos area where he worked.

The girls told the parents what had happened, and the case was reported to police, who opened an investigation.

The trial was held behind closed doors because of the nature of the case and to protect the two girls. The verdict was announced at the end of the hearing. Senior public prosecutor Xenia Xenophontos led the prosecution.
