Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas has received the disciplinary inquiry report into the Kalo Chorio firing range fire, which examined the circumstances and causes behind the incident.
The findings were handed to him by National Guard Chief Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou and concern the investigation into the conditions and causes that led to the outbreak of the fire.
Palmas said he would now study the findings in detail and would not make any further comments at this stage, as a criminal investigation into the incident by the Cyprus Police is ongoing.
The Defence Minister said he could not comment publicly on issues under investigation, in order to respect the process and protect the integrity of the criminal inquiry.
He added that once the criminal investigation is completed and all evidence has been assessed, any responsibilities identified will be assigned in accordance with the law.
Separately, Palmas said the Cyprus Police criminal investigation report is expected to be submitted to the Legal Service within the coming week.
