Nicosia’s historic GSP stadium has been transformed following a four-year renovation project costing more than €19 million.
Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos, Deputy Director General of the Development Directorate at the Ministry of Finance Pinelopi Papavassiliou, and the project’s architect led journalists on a tour of the renovated facility on Monday.

The redevelopment, co-funded by the EU through the “THALIA 2021-2027” Cohesion Policy Programme, features a small amphitheatre equipped with a giant screen and multiple event halls capable of hosting thousands of visitors.

Two underground car parks have been constructed with capacity for more than 500 vehicles, including electric car charging stations. The facility will house restaurants, cafes, and retail shops, while remaining accessible to the public for leisure activities.
The site’s iconic clock has been restored and prominently displayed, while the architect has incorporated modern features including a waterfall.

The grounds include two elevated areas with vegetation and trees surrounding the perimeter.
The project is expected to be delivered to the public in the coming months.
