A man has publicly shared his account of an attack that took place at an Omonia-linked leftist association house in Lakatamia on Sunday night, 18 May 2025.
Charalambos Pantazis, who identifies himself as a victim of the incident, posted on Facebook, describing what he termed an “organised attack” carried out by supporters of APOEL.
“After the clear attempted murder we suffered from certain APOEL ‘fans’, I want to inform those concerned that I am well and fortunately the worst has been avoided,” Pantazis wrote.
His statement, which has been published in full, claims attackers shouted threatening phrases including “your time has come,” “die fucking communists” and “we will kill you today” during the assault.
Pantazis also directed criticism toward President Nikos Christodoulides’ government and Justice Minister Marios Hartsiotis, questioning whether legislation on football violence has effectively addressed societal problems.
“We will continue united,” Pantazis concluded in his social media post.
Two people, aged 20 and 40, have been arrested in connection with the attack.
