Akamas Municipality‘s Peyia-Kissongera area will soon boast the longest beach promenade in Cyprus, enhancing its tourist product and offering additional points of interest, recreation, and sports.
The procedures for the completion of the project are progressing rapidly, and the first phase of the project was already inaugurated a few months ago by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides.
According to Akamas Mayor Marinos Lambrou, the Peyia beach promenade has a cost of €2.5 million. The first phase of the project, he said, is 2 kilometres long and is part of the wider beach promenade starting from the Marina area in Potima and extending to the Agios Georgios harbour in Peyia, covering a total coastal distance of 14 kilometres.
In the first phase, he noted, the construction of an amphitheater, an outdoor gym, a basketball court, a kiosk, and a children’s playground is included. He concluded, saying that this is a very important project that will upgrade our Municipality.
Its completion is estimated to take 18 months.
