Police investigating the disappearance of 61-year-old Olga Vasilieva in Limassol as a suspected premeditated murder are examining reports that the man arrested in connection with the case was the last person to see her before she went missing on 23 October.
According to information obtained by philenews, the suspect and Vasilieva had been in a relationship and reportedly had a disagreement over a specific matter before her disappearance.
The circumstances of their reported dispute are among the issues being examined by investigators from the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Police said they had concluded that criminal activity was behind the woman’s disappearance after examining evidence gathered during their investigation.
An arrest warrant was issued against a Syrian national based on evidence obtained by investigators, and he was located and arrested on Friday night.
Vasilieva’s car had also been found by authorities in the preceding days.
Investigators are examining the evidence and attempting to establish the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
