A house and car belonging to a retired couple were destroyed in a fire that broke out late yesterday in the village of Souni, Limassol district.
Police reported that the blaze started around 22:30 in a storage area containing a central gas heating system at the residence of a 64-year-old man, who was at home with his wife at the time.
The fire quickly spread to the couple’s car in the garage before engulfing the rest of the property. Fire services responded with six vehicles and managed to extinguish the blaze, but both the house and vehicle were destroyed.
Police officers and fire service investigators conducted on-site examinations. Initial investigations suggest no malicious intent, though the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The case is being handled by Episkopi Police Station.
