The risk of wildfires starting and spreading will reach “Red Alert” level on Sunday, August 23, the Forestry Department said.
The department urged the public to take particular care during outdoor activities and to avoid any actions that could start a fire entirely.
It reminded the public that starting a fire is an offence carrying strict penalties under the Forests Law and the Prevention and Extinguishing of Fires in the Countryside Law.
Anyone who notices smoke or fire is asked to contact 1407 for the Forestry Department, or 112 for the Fire Service.
