A woman who appears to be persona non grata in Israel was removed from an Israel-bound flight at Larnaca airport on October 5 after she apparently slipped onto the plane. The Department of Civil Aviation is investigating.
According to police sources, the woman, who is of Georgian origin, had a ticket for the flight. She checked in as normal and passed through Cypriot checks.
Boarding, the last stage of the process, is controlled by airline staff. She appears to have deliberately evaded that check and got on the aircraft. A headcount on board then turned up one passenger too many, and once she had been traced, the authorities removed her.
Nothing is pending against her in Cyprus.
