Minister of Justice and Public Order, Marios Hartsiotis, will visit Athens today to gain expertise on Greece’s “Panic Button” application for domestic violence victims, ahead of launching a similar national system called “ELPIS” in Cyprus, the ministry announced.
During his visit, Hartsiotis will meet with Greece’s Minister of Citizen Protection, Deputy Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, and the Secretary General for Equality and Human Rights.
The discussions will focus on effective management of gender-based violence cases and ways to strengthen cooperation between Cyprus and Greece in preventing and combating gender-based violence and human rights issues.
The visit follows a Memorandum of Cooperation signed last October in Cyprus between Hartsiotis and Greece’s Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, forming part of the agreed actions to be developed between the two countries.
