A wave of arrests of prison guards has begun in connection with confidential Central Prison documents found at a senior prison guard’s home six weeks ago, according to exclusive information obtained by philenews.
Police have issued four arrest warrants for prison staff members and have already arrested one person. The remaining three suspects are expected to be arrested within the day.
This represents a significant development in a case reported by philenews earlier this week, as investigators from Police Headquarters CID appear to have substantial evidence about who helped transfer the documents outside the prison.
Testimonies gathered by the investigative team are considerable and appear to provide a clear picture of how and when documents were transferred from a specific office outside the prison facility.
Sources indicate further developments are expected in the coming days as investigations are at an advanced stage, with new actions dependent on statements from those involved.
Earlier today, another Central Prison guard was released from custody in the same case. He had been charged following testimony from a convicted person who implicated him in product reselling within the correctional facility. The reversal was noted at the Court of Appeal.
