German carrier Lufthansa Group will resume flights to Tel Aviv from 1 February, whilst Hungary-based Wizz Air restarted its London route to the Israeli city on Thursday, following reports of a ceasefire agreement.
The Lufthansa Group decision encompasses its subsidiary airlines Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, Austrian Airlines and Swiss.
Wizz Air has also recommenced services to Amman, Jordan from London Luton airport.
Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair indicated to Reuters last week, prior to the ceasefire announcement, that it hoped to operate a full summer schedule to and from Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion airport.
Turkish Airlines announced plans to launch thrice-weekly flights to Damascus from 23 January, following the collapse of the Assad regime in Syria.
However, some carriers remain wary about full regional operations. Air France-KLM’s Tel Aviv services will stay suspended until 24 January, with its Paris-Beirut routes halted until 31 January.
Lufthansa said its suspension of Tehran flights would continue through 14 February, whilst its Beirut services would remain suspended until 28 February.
