Evidence began to be heard at the Criminal Court in Limassol on Wednesday in the trial of three defendants over the murder of Stavros Demosthenous, with the first prosecution witness presenting a list of more than 300 exhibits, up from 274 in a previous list. Before the exhibits were submitted, defence lawyers said they intended to object to some of them.
The defendants are aged 28, 28 and 31.
Police constable Charalambos Avgousti of Limassol CID presented the list of exhibits received and recorded during the investigation into the killing, along with a log of their movements running to around 50 pages.
The log records the dates and times at which each exhibit was moved and the laboratories it was sent to for examination.
At Monday’s hearing, the prosecution, represented by senior counsel of the Republic Andreas Hadjikyrou, said the statements of a further 10 prosecution witnesses had been admitted, bringing the total to 27.
The hearing is due to continue on Thursday with the submission of further exhibits.
