Divers have recovered the mobile phone of murdered 61-year-old Olga Vasilieva from the seabed off Moni, after the 43-year-old man who has confessed to killing her showed investigators where to look, philenews has learned.
The phone was found on Tuesday by divers searching the area for Limassol CID. It was brought to the surface and taken as evidence.
Moni is also where the phone gave its last signal, through a local mobile phone mast, on the afternoon of 21 October.
The phone is one of the key pieces of evidence investigators had been looking for as they try to establish the movements of Vasilieva and the 43-year-old, and what happened after the murder.
It will undergo forensic examination to establish whether any data can be recovered to help the investigation.
The search is continuing for Vasilieva’s other personal belongings and further evidence.
