The University of Cyprus will offer its first English-language undergraduate degrees from September 2027, launching five programmes with annual fees ranging from 5,300 euros to 25,000 euros for medicine. The university began accepting applications on Tuesday.
The programmes are aimed at attracting both international students and Cypriots who want to study at home.
Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Tatiana-Eleni Synodinou presented the programmes at a conference on Tuesday and stressed the importance of the move both for prospective students and for the university. The programmes are self-funded and will not draw on the university’s budget.
The English-language medicine degree will run for six years, like the existing Greek-language programme, with fees of 25,000 euros a year. It is fully accredited by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA) under the criteria of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). It was designed to meet the requirements of EU Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications.
Two business administration degrees will each cost 10,000 euros a year and last four years. The first offers specialisations in accounting or finance. The university said it responds to steady demand for its accounting and finance courses, which it has offered for 30 years. It is linked to the ACA, ACCA and CFA professional qualifications and includes paid work placements. The second offers specialisations in marketing, operations management or management, and also includes work placements.
A four-year economics degree, run by the Department of Economics, will combine economic theory, data analysis and applied research, also at 10,000 euros a year.
The fifth programme, YUFE’s Joint Bachelor in Urban Sustainability Studies, is offered with the other nine universities in the European YUFE alliance. The interdisciplinary degree covers urban sustainability, lasts three years and costs 5,300 euros a year.
