A groom and his best man were expected to appear before Limassol District Court on Tuesday for a remand hearing over a video of a racing car drifting at the Linopetra roundabout in Limassol. The best man was allegedly driving the car.
The video, posted on social media with the label ‘Just Married’, shows the car drifting around the roundabout as flares are lit, while the exits appear to have been blocked with tow trucks.
Limassol traffic police arrested the two men as part of their investigation and held them in custody. During questioning, they allegedly said they had realised the seriousness of their actions after the incident.
The two men face offences including negligent and reckless acts, blocking a road, careless and dangerous driving, causing a nuisance and obstructing traffic.
Investigators are continuing their inquiries and are trying to locate the racing car.
