Cyprus repatriated 40 people who were living in the country illegally on Friday, bringing the total number of returns since the beginning of 2026 to 8,101, police said.
The operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts by the police Aliens and Immigration Unit and the Deputy Ministry of Migration to tackle irregular migration.
Police said they were continuing to focus on increasing the number of third-country nationals returned from Cyprus after being found to be residing in the Republic illegally, working in coordination with other relevant authorities.
Since the beginning of the year, a total of 8,101 people have left Cyprus through forced and voluntary return procedures.
Meanwhile, authorities recorded 1,480 irregular migrant arrivals in Cyprus during 2026.
