Cyprus can now exchange e-prescriptions and patient health summaries with Estonia, the National eHealth Authority (NeHA) announced on Tuesday. It is the latest addition to a network that lets key medical details and prescriptions travel with Cypriots abroad.
Cyprus has at least one active cross-border eHealth service with 13 countries, according to the official platform of the National Contact Point for eHealth (NCPeH). The network has grown gradually since Cyprus began using the system in 2025, but the services available vary from country to country.
The Estonia link is part of the EU’s MyHealth@EU system. Where the relevant services are available, patients can have their e-prescriptions dispensed in the other country. The two countries can also exchange a short medical history known as the Patient Summary.
In practice, a health professional treating a Cypriot in Estonia, or an Estonian in Cyprus, can use the system to retrieve important information about the patient’s health. The summary can include medication, allergies, diagnoses and other basic medical data.
Full links with five countries
The NCPeH platform lists all four core functions as active for Estonia: sending and receiving patient summaries, and sending and receiving e-prescriptions. That makes it one of five countries with full two-way links to Cyprus for both services, along with the Czech Republic, Greece, Spain and Croatia.
Large numbers of people travel between Cyprus and Greece, where the link went live in autumn 2025, allowing doctors and pharmacists to use the cross-border services.
Partial links with eight more countries
Patient summaries can be exchanged in both directions with Luxembourg, but e-prescriptions cannot. With Ireland and the Netherlands, only the sending of summaries from Cyprus appears as active.
In Lithuania, Latvia and Poland, e-prescriptions work in both directions, but patient summaries cannot be exchanged.
Portugal has two-way exchange of patient summaries, and receiving e-prescriptions from Cyprus is also active. For Norway, the platform records receiving e-prescriptions as active.
Finland, France and Malta currently appear on the platform with no active service in any of the four categories.
