Heavy October rain boosts water outlook in Paphos (VIDEO)

Relevant News

October has begun with widespread heavy rain across Paphos district, raising hopes of an improvement in water conditions after a particularly difficult year for supplies.

Rainfall has been especially intense since the early hours of Saturday, with prolonged downpours reported across large parts of the district. Rain has continued steadily even during periods of lower intensity.

The first three days of the month have already brought substantial rainfall, creating optimism among residents and local bodies over the possible impact on the district’s water balance.

The rain is expected to help replenish groundwater, soak dry land and provide much-needed water for crops, easing pressure over the quantities available for irrigation.

It could also contribute to improving reservoir storage levels after the pressure placed on water resources over the past year.
