Cyprus had recorded 14 cases of West Nile virus infection by September 17, 2026, according to data from the Health Ministry’s Medical and Public Health Services.
Of the 14 cases, nine are confirmed and five probable; 13 are locally acquired and one imported.
One patient with a history of underlying health conditions has died from the virus to date, according to the same data.
Separately, the same data shows that acute respiratory infection activity in the community remains at low levels. Tracked through the Sentinel Surveillance Network in Primary Health Care, it stood at 42 cases per 1,000 visits.
Between September 7 and 13, 2026, based on figures reported by public and private hospitals, there were five hospitalisations due to flu, no hospitalisations due to RSV, and six hospitalisations due to SARS-CoV-2.
In the previous week, between August 31 and September 6, 2026, there had been two hospitalisations due to influenza A and four due to SARS-CoV-2.
No admissions to intensive care units were recorded during either of these two weeks.
