The High Commission of India in Nicosia, in collaboration with FISU Meditation Cyprus, will host a free public event on Sunday, 21 December 2025, to mark the first anniversary of the United Nations World Meditation Day.

Established by the UN in 2024, the observance recognises the increasing global importance of meditation in promoting peace, mental well-being, and harmonious living. Rooted deeply in India’s ancient traditions, meditation has been widely adopted worldwide as a practical tool to support emotional balance and overall wellness, with scientific studies increasingly highlighting its role in reducing stress and enhancing clarity of mind in today’s fast-paced environment.

The programme, which runs from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, will begin with an opening address by Manish, High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Cyprus. He is scheduled to speak on the continued relevance of meditation, India’s long-standing spiritual heritage, and the growing international recognition of meditative practices.

Following the address, a guided meditation workshop will be led by Guru Rajesh Ananda, an international meditation teacher and author. As a senior representative of the teachings of Gururaj Ananda Yogi, Guru Rajesh Ananda brings extensive experience in sharing meditation methods with diverse communities globally.

The workshop, which will be held at the High Commission of India Complex at 10 Lidas Street, Engomi, Nicosia, is designed to offer clear and practical guidance in a simple meditative technique and provide insights into meditation and its role in supporting mental well-being. Participants will be equipped with a method they can continue to practise independently, and a short question and answer session will be included to enhance understanding.

Attendance is free and all are welcome, though registration via this link is required.
