A 48-year-old man was arrested in Nicosia on June 3 following the discovery of large quantities of untaxed tobacco products during a police search of his home and vehicle.
Members of Nicosia CID executed a court warrant and found substantial amounts of cigarettes and tobacco at the property.
Customs officials were called to the scene and seized 264 boxes of 200 cigarettes, 243 boxes of 200 heated tobacco products and rolling tobacco packages totalling 10.75 kilograms.
The tobacco products lacked health warnings in Greek and Turkish, indicating they were duty-free and untaxed goods. The suspect was arrested for possession of the contraband items, whilst his vehicle was confiscated as the means of transport and distribution.

The man was released the following day after accepting an out-of-court settlement, paying €33,000. His vehicle was released upon payment of €1,000.
