Police in Larnaca arrested three young men, aged 19 and 20, early Saturday in connection with commotion, possession of explosive materials, and an offensive weapon, authorities said.
The incident took place at around 4:30 a.m. in the Ayioi Anargyroi area, where a group of approximately 20 youths was reportedly involved in public disorder. Upon arrival at the scene, police patrol vehicles were targeted with firecrackers thrown by the group.
During a search, officers found five firecrackers and a collapsible baton in the possession of one of the 20-year-olds. The three suspects were arrested on the spot for offences committed in flagrante delicto and are expected to appear in court later on Friday for a remand hearing.
The case is being investigated by Larnaca CID.
