Chaos erupted at Nicosia courts on Monday morning when a power failure caused the i-justice system to collapse, bringing proceedings to a standstill.
The outage resulted in significant delays and long queues, creating frustration for both lawyers and their clients.
The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) spokesperson Christina Papadopoulou clarified to Philenews that the issue was neither a fault in the area nor a scheduled power cut.
“We received information from the Electrical Service. The problem does not concern EAC, but rather the courts’ installations,” Papadopoulou explained.
A provincial engineer from the Electromechanical Service told Philenews that “a fault occurred in the electrical installation of three buildings”. The engineer added that “the power supply was interrupted from the main switch for safety reasons”.
According to officials, the problem has since been resolved.
