A worker on a natural gas extraction platform was airlifted to the American Medical Centre in Nicosia early Friday morning after experiencing severe abdominal pain, the hospital said in a statement.
The emergency medical evacuation was coordinated by the Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), which dispatched a government helicopter to the platform located southeast of Cyprus.
“The American Medical Centre once again responded with complete success to an emergency situation which occurred on a natural gas extraction platform within the Cypriot exclusive economic zone,” the hospital said.
Following the secure airlift operation, the patient landed at American Medical Center’s helipad and received medical attention.
The patient has been stabilised and is currently undergoing appropriate treatment, according to the hospital.
