A state-of-the-art medical facility, American Medical Centre Limassol / American Heart Institute, has received environmental approval for construction in central Limassol, marking an expansion of the American Medical Center’s hospital services.

According to a company press release, the €60-million project, spanning 12,900 square metres, will operate outside Cyprus’s national health system (GeSY) and is expected to become one of the region’s largest and most technologically advanced private hospitals.

Dr Marinos Soteriou, an AMC founder, said the environmental approval establishes the foundation for a model private hospital that will serve as a healthcare benchmark operating to international standards.

Designed by an award-winning London architectural firm, the facility emphasises ecological sustainability with solar panels generating 115 kW, expected to meet 25% of the hospital’s energy needs.

The 10-storey building, with two basement levels and a four-storey car park offering 120 spaces, will house 68 beds. Patient rooms, located on the top three floors, feature private gardens and panoramic views.

The facility will include an emergency department, intensive care unit, five operating theatres with advanced medical equipment, and a helipad for emergency transfers. Construction is expected to complete in approximately 18 months.

The hospital will provide comprehensive medical services including diagnostic testing, emergency care, scheduled and urgent surgeries, physical rehabilitation, intensive care, and 24-hour emergency medical care. Advanced technology will include CT and MRI scanners, ultrasound equipment, and medical gas systems.
