The Troodos region has been experiencing continuous snowfall since morning as a cold snap is affecting Cyprus.
The snow has created hazardous driving conditions, prompting authorities to restrict access to mountain routes. All roads leading to Troodos, including Platres-Troodos, Karvouna-Troodos, and Prodromos-Troodos, are now accessible only to four-wheel-drive vehicles and those equipped with snow chains.
Similar restrictions apply to several other mountain routes, including Kalopanayiotis-Moutoullas, Pedoulas-Prodromos, Prodromos-Lemythou, Kakopetria-Pinewood-Pedoulas, Kakopetria-Karvouna, and Kykkos-Pedoulas.
Police have urged drivers to exercise extreme caution, maintain low speeds, and keep safe distances from vehicles ahead due to icy conditions.
The snowfall has attracted attention on social media, with residents sharing images and videos of snow-covered squares, pathways, and rooftops across the mountain communities.
