Heavy traffic and increased security measures are in place near the Presidential Palace in Nicosia ahead of Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s visit, as activists plan demonstrations.

Police have deployed a helicopter and implemented strict security protocols, with temporary road closures scheduled in both Nicosia and Larnaca until 9 p.m. local time.

Herzog is set to meet Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace at 6 p.m. The visit comes amid regional developments and coincides with today’s Cyprus-Egypt intergovernmental meeting and the Cyprus-Greece-Egypt trilateral summit in Cairo.

The Cyprus Peace Council has announced protests against the visit, with demonstrations planned outside the Presidential Palace.
Sources say the discussions will focus on developments in Syria and regional security matters.
Police have warned motorists to expect traffic disruptions throughout the evening.
