Eight arrested in Cyprus over alleged terrorist financing

Police have detained eight people in connection with suspected terrorist financing activities following raids in Limassol and Paphos provinces early Thursday.

The suspects are alleged to have been involved in funding a terrorist organisation in Syria, with authorities investigating claims that they were transferring money and narcotics to associates in their home country.

The operation, led by the Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department (CID), was initiated after intelligence suggested the individuals were linked to terrorism activities abroad.

Law enforcement officials are expected to bring the suspects before the Nicosia District Court to request their detention as investigations continue.
