The fleet of the Police is being strengthened in the immediate future with new police vehicles and new Mobile Command Center.
This includes 46 patrol cars, of the hatchback type, and two vehicles specially configured to operate as Mobile Command Center.
The 46 hatchback patrol cars are fully configured to meet the needs and duties of police officers.
They feature a range of modern technological equipment tailored to the needs of contemporary policing.
In addition to their basic equipment (lights, sirens, announcement and display megaphones), the new patrol cars have installed a speed control system (on board speed radar), an automatic license plate recognition system (ANPR), a system for locating the position of the police vehicle, a wireless communication system (Tetra), as well as a navigation system (GPS).
The two specially configured vehicles are equipped with all the technological equipment necessary for them to develop and operate as Command Centers, near the points of police operations.
Among other things, the two Mobile Command Centers feature systems for generating electrical energy, telecommunications management systems, and a system for audio and video capture from the area of police operations. Additionally, they also have meeting and deposition space.
The new patrol cars will be immediately allocated to the District Police Directorates to meet their operational needs.
At the same time, one Mobile Command Center will be allocated to cover the needs of the Police Directorates of Limassol and Paphos, and the second for the needs of the Police Directorates of Larnaca and Famagusta.
The new vehicles were inspected yesterday by the Chief of Police, Mr. Stelios Papatheodorou, who was briefed on their characteristics and capabilities.
